Residential Drywall Services in Meridian
Drywall installation
We hang 1/2-inch regular board on interior walls and 5/8-inch Type X on garage ceilings. Baths get moisture-resistant board. Showers get cement board. Drywall installation covers new rooms, additions, and remodels.
Drywall repair
Fastener pops, bubbled tape, and hairline cracks at vault peaks show up on 2000s production homes. We cut to solid board, re-tape, and blend texture. See drywall repair .
Drywall hole repair
Doorknob holes, TV-mount cutouts, and electrician squares are patches, not full hangs. Drywall hole repair uses a California patch or a stud-to-stud piece.
Taping and texturing
Paper tape, setting compound, and knockdown or orange peel after a new hang. Taping and texturing is the finish you see after paint.
Drywall texture matching
Matching 2005 knockdown around a plumber cutout is a different job than spraying a new house. Texture matching dials hopper and air to the existing wall.
Popcorn ceiling removal
Acoustic texture comes off after testing on older homes, then we skim or retexture. Popcorn ceiling removal is the scrape, not a coat of paint over bumps.
Drywall finishing
Level 4 is the production standard. Level 5 is a full skim for critical light. Drywall finishing is the last coats and the raking-light check.
Skim coat drywall
Old knockdown that has to go smooth without a rehang is a skim. Skim coat drywall covers existing texture. It is not a new Level 5 spec.
Level 5 finish
Kitchens with enamel and living rooms with west glass need a thin skim over a correct Level 4 hang. Level 5 finish stops joints from flashing.
Water damaged drywall
Soft gypsum after an ice-maker leak or a second-floor overflow comes out. Water damaged drywall dries the cavity, then hangs new board.
Ceiling repair
Sagging 1/2-inch, truss-uplift cracks, and can-light holes are overhead work. Ceiling repair is not a wall patch turned sideways.
Basement drywall
We check moisture on former farm ground before we hang. Basement drywall uses 5/8-inch on 24-inch joists.
Bathroom drywall
Green or purple board outside the spray. Cement board in the shower. Bathroom drywall is the wet-zone hang.
Garage drywall
The wall and ceiling between cars and living space take 5/8-inch Type X, taped. Garage drywall is a rated assembly.
Bonus room drywall
A room over the garage still needs Type X on the garage ceiling, then a living-space finish. Bonus room drywall covers conversions too.
New construction drywall
Production plats and custom homes after rough-in inspection. New construction drywall includes punch after other trades.
Soundproof drywall
Mass, offset seams, and acoustic sealant. One specialty sheet is not an STC stack. Soundproof drywall is the assembly.
Commercial Drywall Services
Commercial drywall
Offices, retail at The Village at Meridian, and medical build-outs on Chinden and Fairview use metal studs, Type X on rated corridors, and the finish the spec names. Commercial drywall follows the plan set, not a house knockdown.
Why Meridian Property Owners Call Meridian Quality Drywall
Meridian grew from about 35,000 people in 2000 to well over 100,000. Most of that stock is 1990s through 2020s gypsum on former irrigated farm ground: Paramount, Tuscany, Ten Mile, and the I-84 edge. Those houses fail in a short list: fastener pops as 2x framing dries, truss uplift cracks at vaults after a freeze, and stains under second-floor baths.
We hang to ASTM C1396 board, tape to GA-216 practice, and finish to the Gypsum Association level the paint needs. Type X on garage ceilings. Moisture-resistant board in laundry and baths. Setting-type compound on the tape coat so joints do not shrink back in this dry air.
Treasure Valley summers pass 100 F. Board stored bowed in a hot garage takes a set. Mud skins fast in July. Winters are cold and dry, so unheated new builds need heat in the room or the finish checks. We plan the schedule around that, not a national calculator.

Our Drywall Process
Scope the job
We need the city, the room, ceiling height, and whether this is a hang, a repair, a popcorn scrape, or a finish. Photos of damage help. We do not quote a square-foot number from another market.
Hang the right board
Interior walls get 1/2-inch. Ceilings on 24-inch joists and garage assemblies get 5/8-inch Type X. Wet rooms get moisture-resistant board. Showers get cement board. Screws, not nails, dimpled into the face paper.
Tape, coat, and dry
Paper tape on flats. Setting compound on the tape coat. Ready-mix on the finish coat. Three coats. Meridian's dry air shortens wait time in summer and lengthens it in a cold shell.
Texture and check
Knockdown or orange peel on most production homes. Level 5 skim where the light will show joints. We check under a work light held parallel to the wall before anyone primes.
Areas We Serve
We work from Meridian across Ada County and into Canyon County. Dedicated pages: Boise , Nampa , Eagle , Kuna , Star , Caldwell , Garden City , Middleton , Emmett , Hidden Springs , south Meridian , and Melba . Call (208) 382-8431 if your town is next door and the job is a real hang or repair.
Ada County assessor records show the post-1990 boom that filled former prune and apple ground with gypsum and knockdown. NOAA climate normals for the valley are hot and dry in summer, cold and dry in winter, with light snow. That mix is why we talk about heat in the room and board stored flat, not because it sounds technical.
If you searched drywall contractor in Meridian, Idaho, the number on this page is the one to use. We quote the job in front of you. We do not sell a national average as if it were your house.
Settlers Park, the Village at Meridian, Chinden, Fairview, and Eagle Road are the corridors we name because that is where the housing and the TIs actually sit. Downtown farmhouses along the old laterals still show up as mixed plaster and gypsum. Those two stocks do not take the same texture match.
National installed drywall ranges published by HomeAdvisor sit around $1.50 to $3.50 per square foot for hang and finish. Angi and Fixr cluster near that for production work and higher for popcorn scrapes and Level 5. Those are national averages, not our price. Height, Type X, wet-room board, and heat in the house move a Meridian quote. Call (208) 382-8431 and we will say the number for your rooms.

Common questions
How do we get an estimate?
Call or text the number on this page. Tell us the city, the room, and whether it is a hang, a repair, a popcorn scrape, or a finish. Photos help on patches. We quote before any board comes down.
Do you match knockdown and orange peel?
Yes. Most Meridian production homes from the 1990s and 2000s are knockdown or light orange peel. We spray a shade heavier than the field, knock it down, and prime so the patch does not flash under west glass.
How long does a typical room take?
Hang, tape, and finish on one room is usually a few days because joint compound has to dry between coats. Meridian summers are hot and dry, so mud sets faster. Winter jobs in unheated space take longer.
Do you take small patches or only whole houses?
Both. A doorknob hole, a water stain on one ceiling, and a full new build all come through the same number. Say the size when you call so we quote the right way.
Is sheetrock different from drywall?
No. Sheetrock is a brand name for gypsum board. We hang 1/2-inch on interior walls and 5/8-inch Type X on garage ceilings and rated walls, whatever name you searched.
Which towns do you work in?
Meridian is the hub. We also work in Boise, Nampa, Eagle, Kuna, Star, Caldwell, Garden City, Middleton, Emmett, Hidden Springs, south Meridian, and Melba.
